Guitar
A project I commissioned for myself following an opportunity to acquire a damaged Les Paul. I wanted a unique design that would be striking whilst also offering a challenge to my technical abilities. The jigsaw puzzle design came from the a cover of a Biffy Clyro album. To give more depth and character I introduced the 'missing piece'. Materials used were bookmatched oak burr for the main construction, with ebony stringing to divide the jigsaw pieces and two contrasting tones of dyed ripple sycamore in pink.

Butterfly Marquetry Jewellery Box
I was commissioned to make a jewellery box for the wife of a client. She had a particular love of butterflies so I decided to incorporate them into the design. The marquetry top is created from dyed ripple sycamore and birds-eye maple, which further adds character to the butterflies. One butterfly is in mother-of-pearl which adds a striking focus to the overall design. The outside of the box is ripple sycamore. The box itself is constructed from solid American Black Walnut. The inside contains two reversible and removeable walnut trays and a small mirror. To add intrigue and interest, (and every lady should retain some mysterious qualities) I added two secret compartments to use as she pleases!

Child's Cot in Walnut
The client loved American Black Walnut, Although the overall effect is quite masculine I believe the marquetry and the book matched walnut burr on both faces and on head and footboards achieves this.
